TSA, again. (Why??)

A New York woman was flying from NY to Dublin, and, upon her arrival, opened her suitcase, and found a note saying that her luggage had been searched. It's a routine thing, has happened to me buncha times. She had in her suitcase a vibrator, and upon discovering it, the TSA agent stuck a note in there with it, saying ' Get your freak on, girl.' Just saying, you know, so you know where your tax dollars are going.

I am tired of being bitchy, soapbox guy. Jessica tells me to write about something happy, positive. I am happy about this TSA story, because I cannot stand these dingleberries, and I am positive that they suck. Any and all negative stories about the TSA are a good thing, because the world needs them to go away.  Get the Army in there. Although I recognize that no system is perfect, and anything put in their place would likely be just as bad.

Ah well. I am too something today to bitch too much about the goddamn TSA. They make flying difficult and unpleasant, but so do terrorists.

Sorry, folks.

Todays lunch was an appetizer of rabbit terrine, with prune and a small salad, the main course was Coq en Velour, which is rooster in an Armagnac sauce, and dessert was Chartreuse creme brulee with Chartreuse ice cream. Just sayin.
The ' we're gonna need a bigger boat' was a reference to the flick 'Jaws', and I realize that I have lived 42 years on this planet without having a plate of clementines tossed at me by a french woman, until now.

Pics and a video.

I think I should get hold of a publisher, and put together a book of cell phone pics as postcards.

Peace.

Stuff 'n thangs

Read a Tweet from my Close Personal Friend Sean about something called a Cheesy Bacon Bowl from KFC. What he said is only important to me, so I won't share it, but I will say that I went and looked at it online, and I am simultaneously intrigued and disgusted by this.... thing. Behold.
BEHOLD!!!
It looks like it contains mashed potatoes,  or the KFC equivalent, fried chicken pieces, cheese, bacon, and is that corn? In short, its what makes America great. We have KFC here, in France, and after carefully checking out their online menu, I have come to 2 conclusions. One, no Cheesy Bacon Bowl here, and two, I want KFC for breakfast.

We also don't seem to have that Double Down sandwich, but it sure is famous. Now. While I have never tried, or even seen one of these sandwiches, I have heard about them, and I consider myself, not an expert, but 'aware' of how fast food marketing works. The ads make the meals, or sandwiches or whatever, look bigger and better, and more attractive than they really do. And, as an American, bigger does indeed mean better. So, with that in mind, what can the Double Down sandwich really consist of? A couple of smallish chicken breasts, fried or grilled, cheese, and a little bit of bacon? If you put that shit on a plate, would it be a huge meal, or just a meal? And, if you get it grilled, what do you think is worse for you, that, or a Big Mac? How about one of those Wendy's burgers, with 3 or 4 hamburger patties? But, put it into a sandwich shape, and look out! Americans are crazy! Brilliant, really.
MORE GOODER.

One of the funniest things I saw about this was an article calling it an abomination, yadda yadda yadda, and in the comments section ( I love the comments section), one commenter saying how it is a crime against humanity, and another asking the first guy why he hates America so much. Funny shit.

I was perusing the L.A. Times this morning, and came across an opinion piece about how the California Medical Association is a buncha dummies because they want marijuana legalized. They say they want it legal, so they can study it more effectively, and therefore have a better understanding of what they are already recommending. The writer of the piece asked a question that caught my eye. He asked, ' Whatever happened to studying a drug first to determine its benefits and risks, then deciding whether its safe enough to legalize?' To which I would reply, 'You ever heard of Oxycontin, you fuckin hypocrite?' How many lives and families has weed ripped apart? Why do guys like this asshole writer use derogatory   terms like 'stoner', when honestly, if you don't happen to be  user of marijuana, its existence effects your life not at all? Thats not necessarily an argument that I would make with any other drug, including oxy, but weed? Oh yes I did.

I could also sit here and rail against all sorts of other perfectly legal things, like booze, tobacco, doctor prescribed drugs that, if used improperly, will fuck your life right up, but why? The people that need convincin' already have their minds set, and don't let pesky things like ' facts', or 'the truth' get in the way of their precious opinions.

I guess, legalize 'em all. End the violence on the Mexican border. Tweakers gonna tweak, junkies gonna boot up yadda yadda yadda. It wouldn't change my mind about never smoking crack. Got no interest. Never will, legal or not.

Numbers time! Out of 164000 people in CA prisons, 1325 are in there for pot, costing the state $50 grand a year each, that's, lets see, holyshit66milliondollarsOMG. Oh wait, thats cool, because the STATE of California has a prison budget of 10 billion, with a B, dollars. Wow. Just wow.

I hate to make this comparison, but I'm gonna anyway. France  has a population of 64 million people, give or take, and 64000 in prison. California has 37 million, 164000 in prison. Little more than half the population, two and a half time the people in prison. What. The. Fuck.

Pictravaganza!

Here are more pics. I have been off work for a few days, and have been being super productive around the house, plus walking in our woods before the snow comes. I also gathered up the family, a bottle of wine, and drove to the Charmant Som, that's the big mountain outside the living room window, to see the sunset. Forgot a bottle opener. Some alcoholic I am.

Daniel took about half of those. Kid has got a good eye. Here is some more, from different days.

What do you see here?

Here, too?  See anything?

That big mountain is the Charmant Som

So there you go. that is what I have been up to for the last week and a half. I entered 3 of those pictures in a contest, so I fully expect to win the internet soon. Stay tuned. I have one more thing to show you. Up on top the other day, Daniel and I came across a hole in the ground. Here is a short video.
Peace.

Pics!!

Been awhile since I posted, but I want you all to know, it's not you, it's me. I just have nothing to say. So, with that in mind, here are some pictures.

First snowfall. Whatever day that was, Friday or whatever. Winters  acomin'!

The Monday before the snow, we went to this park that is over by the Porte de Grenoble. It is right up against the mountain, so the park goes more up than out, if you can dig it. From the street, it looks like a teeny weeny park, yeah big deal, but if you take the time to go into this nothing park, it opens into this amazing space. You gotta see it to believe it. Oh yeah, and you need to love stairs.

We, being the wonderful people we are, went to help J's cousin, Jean Baptiste, move. He was living a couple hours south of us, and moved to Lyon, where he's from. It was just us, JB, and his bro Quentin. It was a lotta fun, I like both these guys. He had a really funky apartment in the center of this village. I mean in the center. We went for beers at lunchtime, and hoofed it to a bar really close, but outside the walls of the medieval part of town he lived in. Its kinda cool, walking through this village that has stood for sooooo damn long, and had so many different people walk its streets. That Taco Bell bell was right outside his apartment, as was that covered market, and that sign. But no Taco Bell. Bummer.

We had just left JBs place, and were driving home. Staying off the highways, we were going through groves of olive trees. I had to stop and get a pic of that first one. I kinda dig trees. Those trees had to be hundreds of years old. None of them were more than about 12 feet tall, and there were hundreds of them. There were ruins of old farmhouses, and still the trees were alive, and covered with olives. And snails. Lotsa snails everywhere.

After burnin some daylight at the olive groves, we got back in the car and headed Northish, towards home. We had a mountain on our left, and a river on our right, when Jessica asked me to stop. She had seen that church across the river, and wanted to see it, and play tourist for a couple hours. I am always down for playing tourist. We found this village to be the bitchinest yet. The old church, the square, the pedestrian street, and my favorite, the medieval center of town, with its narrow walkways, stairways, tunnels, and just stunning homes. The whole thing was just cool as shit.

Thats all I got. Peace.
