Just a couple today.

I'm sorry, what?
Today in the news, a man asked for donations of meals to be delivered to his ill wife.
I have to be careful here. I want you all to read this blog, and be entertained, and at the same time, give you something to think about, and try to not make you hate me.
Alright, look. The dude is the pastor of a megachurch in California, and he asked his congregation to deliver said meals to waiting limo drivers, to be run over to the old lady. Just an aside, the church is in bankruptcy. I just have no idea what to say about this, but I feel like I should say something. My feelings run from 'Wow, he really fucked his flock, bummer', to 'Hahaha!', to, 'How could he do that?'
This guy has been living the millionaire lifestyle off of donations from gullible bunch of rubes. I keep telling whoever will listen, there's two kinds of people in the world. Carnies and rubes. Predators and prey. I think the nicest thing I can say is ' Be careful who you trust'. This especially sucks, because he betrayed his flock in their faith, and their wallets. That's the one hand. On the other, I somehow doubt he held a gun to their heads and said 'Gimme yer money!' they happily forked it over, I'm sure. There seems to be something about the 'Pastor/ Father/Priest and churchgoer relationship that attracts people who , how can I say this, well, to some of them, behaving in a Christian manner isn't exactly a priority? To them? I don't mean you, of course, or the leaders of your church. You, being a reader of this blog, have displayed an amazingly high intelligence, and, as I have said in a previous entry, you are MASSIVELY handsome and/or beautiful. And the leaders of your church, are quite simply, above reproach. Ok? Ok.
I, personally, think an air of poverty gives a little bit of 'street cred' to pastor types. But, remember, I have little time for religion. Its just that when I see a leader of a church rollin in a Benz, or the Jim and Tammy Faye thing, and other, assorted church related scandals, of which there are many, it gives me something to think about. Its somehow hypocritical. Just so you don't think that I am picking on religion as a whole, this church has a lawsuit filed against it claiming that the pastor and his family paid themselves ' lavish salaries while the church was in financial straits'. Whups. Is greed a sin?

Heres the story.
I dunno, man. It kinda sickens me, but on the other hand, it doesn't affect me at all. I don't really care that these people fork over their cash, so dude can roll up in a limo. But it sure feels slimy, somehow.
One of Ghandi's 7 dangers to human virtue is 'religion without sacrifice', and maybe dude didn't want to sacrifice the Town Car, so who am I to say?
Peace.

Todays F & G (Now with pictures!)
If the rumors I hear are correct, then it is snowy and cold back in the Motherland. It sucks here too. Slight breeze, about 50 degrees, give or take, partly sunny. Just terrible. I may need a nap. And perhaps a glass of wine. Maybe not in that order.
So. Years and years ago, I was driving through Texas, between Houston and who-knows-where, when I stopped at some little shithole truckstop.
Sometimes, local folks sell their wares at these places. Local.... whatever. This particular time, I happened upon a display with candied cactus and jalapenos. Being me, I bought them both. The cactus was..ok. The jalapenos, however, I mean wow. Sweet, spicy, delicious. I was in love. Sweet, sweet love. Long story short, I make them here, for me, cuz I have yet to meet a frenchman who really likes spicy. I don't want to sell the French short, here, though. These people know a thing or two about the yummy.
This time, at the market we shop for produce at, I got red, yellow, orange and green ones. Man, are they beautiful.
Todays stroll in the woods began at Fort St. Eynard.
From there I went kinda southeast, along the top of the mountain. What a view. And its cool as shit. I found a place for the most bitchen party ever, as long as you don't mind losing a couple guests. Drunk people fall a lot, so I'm told, and the first step here is a biggie.
Pretty cool. A good time was had by all, all being me. Its cool, you know, looking down on planes and helicopters, seeing the city, little teeny cars going by on the toy highway. Oh yeah, on the first Wednesday of every month, they test the air raid sirens at noon, so there's that.
Finally, I just got on Facebook. I want all my new/old friends to see what I look like now, because its been a whole lotta years since most of you and I have spoken or seen us. Plus, my hair told me to. So here it is. Buckle up.
One of the things I like about living here is the pace of life. Its a huge cultural difference. We, as Americans, put so much stock into the future, invest, buy a house, save save save, get that badass new car/pool/boat that I think a lot of us forget to live our lives. Its always hustle on to the next thing, or you've failed. The french have the same concerns, but I think they also keep in mind the importance of living in the moment. Its really hard to put into words. So, I'll just say this. 35 hour work week, 5 weeks vacation, 2 hour lunch.
Peace.

Update on the Safeway thing
As of today, Safeway has decided to drop the shoplifting charges against the Hawaii couple I wrote about yesterday.
Couple things.
First, this dogshit you visited upon this couple is NOT EXCUSED. The woman was pregnant, for Christs sake. She is also a former Air Force staff sergeant. You called the cops for 5 bucks in sandwiches, and had a pregnant woman who served our country arrested.
How nice for you that you are going to 'review our training policies'. Oh goody. Heres the DP story.

You know what, Safeway? Fuck you anyway. Fuck you, fuck your examination of your training policy, fuck your division president who called the couple to apologize, and fuck your apology. Kiss my ass. You have lost at least one customer forever. Hopefully millions more. Your sad little apology does nothing to erase the fact that this couples 3 year old spent the night with CPS. You are just trying to avoid litigation with this pathetic bullshit. Because its all about the wallet with you. the bottom line. You have forgotten that your customers, all of them, are human beings, with thoughts and feelings, and you just do not treat human beings like that. they made a 5 dollar mistake. What you did to them will haunt them for the rest of their lives. An apology does not make it all better. Nothing will make it all better. Well, one thing. Close your doors. Go away.
You and I are done.

Full moon fever
Daniel, yesterday, made me very, very proud. We were at the top of the Charmant Som, at this cross someone put up there, when my poor Daniel came down with a case of full moon fever. In other words, he pulled down his pants and showed these 2 ladies his ass. Holy shit, it was priceless.
That is all.

Dear Safeway.
Dear Safeway. Last week a couple from California was shopping in one of your Honolulu stores with their 2 year old, after just having moved to Hawaii. They were hungry, tired and lost, having, as I said, just moved there a couple of weeks previously.
Anyhoozle, they were perusing your well stocked aisles, in search of sustenance, and opened a couple sandwiches to tide them over, until they could get their purchases home, and feed the little one. Unfortunately, they forgot to pay for the sandwiches.
We have all done this, it's no biggie, a simple misunderstanding between adults. It happens.
Nope! You refused their offer to pay for the sandwiches, and called the cops, who arrested them, charged them with shoplifting, and GAVE THE KID TO CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES.
You fuckin assholes are so above it all, that in the middle of a stressful situation, you cocksuckers have never made a goddamn mistake?? What the FUCK is wrong with you? 5 bucks in fucking SANDWICHES??
Unfortunately, the couple DID, technically, shoplift, so I doubt they have any legal recourse ( sue you into the stone age), and they did get their kid back, (18 hours later), but shit. How fucking traumatizing. Imagine its you. Little mistake, bye bye Jr. Little, nothing mistake. I hope they sue the shit out of you, Safeway. I hope they find a lawyer who LOVES the taste of corporate blood, and they sue your collective asses off. I hope they ruin you. Because the real problem isn't the dummies you hired to run your shitty Honolulu store. The real problem is you. Shit rolls downhill, but its gotta start from somewhere. The only reason that your employees did this to this couple is because somewhere, somehow, at some time, you told them to. I hope a jury realizes that. I hope, I hope, I hope.
I do know this. This is the Worlds Greatest Blog, and you people reading this are smart, funny, insightful, and INCREDIBLY attractive. And I somehow doubt that they will want their fine asses in your shitty stores any more. I personally, when the opportunity arises, will, from this moment forward, ALWAYS shop elsewhere. I will never darken the doorway of a Safeway ever again. Fuck you.
Peace, to all reading this. But not for Safeway. Dicks.
